Gingerbread House Contest of the Hollis Holiday Luminaria Stroll organized by the Hollis Recreation Commission

The Basics

• Pre-register at the Gingerbread House Contest sign-up page here, before 11:00am on Sat. Dec. 13, 2025.
• You can also see the Gingerbread House Contest flyer here.
• No cost to enter!
• Individuals and family/friend groups can enter.
• Please bring your gingerbread house to the Lawrence Barn on Depot Road in Hollis on Sat. Dec. 13, 2025 between 11:00am-1:00pm.
• Judging will take place at 1:00pm.
• Winners will be announced at the tree lighting ceremony in Monument Square at 4:00pm that same day.  Also, the winning names and gingerbread house photos will be posted to the main page of this web site that evening.
• Please pick up your gingerbread house at 6:30pm that day at Lawrence Barn to take it home.

Gingerbread House Requirements & Information

• Houses can be built out of any material (cardboard, tacky glue, etc.) but all exterior decoration must be edible materials such as candy, nuts, cereal, cookies, crackers, pretzels, pasta.  Lollipop sticks are allowed.
• Original creations are encouraged, but purchased kits are certainly acceptable.
• Houses may be any structure (house, church, barn, school, train, airplane, etc.).
• One entry per individual or family/friend group.

Judging

Judging will be based on creativity, overall appearance, and craftsmanship, with special consideration for originality, neatness, and festive presentation.  Prize packs will be awarded for 1^st, 2^nd, and 3^rd place in each of the following categories:

• Youth (ages 12 and under)
• Teens (ages 13-18)
• Adults
• Family/Friend Groups

In addition, there will be a People's Choice Award, voted on by the visitors in attendance, with its own prize!
